DR. STUART SCOTT

Dr. Stuart L. Scott is a well-known technical authority in the areas of artificial lift, multiphase pumping, and production engineering/operations. He is a Distinguished Member of SPE and holds the ASME Henry R. Worthington Medal for "Eminent Achievement in the Evolving Field of Multiphase -Pumping.” Received the status of ASME Fellow January 2017.
Scott is currently the Director of Technology for Petroleum Emerging Technology Corporation (Petroleum ETC). From 2008-2016, he managed the Shell Deepwater Artificial Lift Technology Program and served several years as the Artificial Lift / Pumping Principal Technical Expert (PTE) for Shell globally. Before coming to Shell, Scott held the Bethancourt Professorship of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University, was a faculty member at Louisiana State University (LSU) and worked for Phillips Petroleum Company in a variety of roles. He holds B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Petroleum Engineering and a M.S. degree in Computer Science all from The University of Tulsa.

Amanda Scott started her oil and gas industry career with Petroleum ETC in 2013 as an Event Coordinator. Her expertise in providing advisory services now spans across the entire energy value chain from think tank to commercialization and from concept to venture capitalists. She is a dynamic deliverer of training programs that incorporate client’s specific developmental needs, such as work protocols, technology training, safety and etiquette skills for young professional engineers.
Amanda oversees operations of Petroleum ETC’s Ventures and Events. She has obtained a challenging leadership position applying creative problem solving and lean management skills with a growing company to achieve ideal utilization of its resources and maximum profits. Through strategic marketing, branding, and strong partnerships, she has been able to drive successful businesses to reach and connect with their target markets.
Building a successful organization requires far more than talent and strategy, it boils down to one thing—passion. Amanda credits her passion for outstanding performance and a commitment to building long-lasting, trusting relationships with clients and key stakeholders as the foundation to her success. Her specialty is working with start-ups to produce performance breakthroughs in productivity and leadership.
Throughout her career, Amanda has led several initiatives in corporate strategy and operational excellence, which has given Petroleum ETC a strong foundation and framework in which to grow. Her highly-customized approach to each project ensures all projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and with the highest level of quality. Her other focuses include client services, account management, internal/external communications, marketing communications, non-profit association management, training material development and implementation, and O&G event marketing. Additionally, Amanda is a passionate supporter for women’s leadership roles and an activist for human-trafficking victims.
Amanda is certified by Rice University, through the university’s Leadership & Decision Making in the Energy Industry Program (with a focus on Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Renewable and Electric Energy).
SUSAN ALLEN FARRELL
STRATEGIC MARKETING AND SALES LEAD
The first decade of Susan's career focused on senior account management for Ogilvy & Mather and Fogarty & Klein (The Company of Others); providing strategic direction and account support for software and hardware technology, biotechnology, and business-to-consumer companies including Compaq, BusinessLand, ComputerCraft, and The Woodlands residential and commercial developments. Then, Susan spent years in senior and executive marketing and sales leadership for international technology companies including: Petroleum Information (IHS Energy), Halliburton/Landmark Graphics, Silicon Graphics (SGI), Paradigm Geophysical, NEON Systems, and Pageflex. She has also served on many boards including the American Marketing Association - Houston Chapter, IABC, and American Advertising Federation - Houston Chapter, and Operation Rainbow. Susan has received more than 50 marketing awards and several sales leadership accolades of excellence, based on results.
BRIAN JOSEPH SCHWANITZ
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP MANAGER
Brian is a graduate of Michigan Technological University in Applied Geophysics and has worked in the oil field service industry for the past 41 years, having spent 25 years with Schlumberger in various engineering and management positions. Brian joined Welltec® in 2002 as General Manager in Houston, Texas, where in six years, the US business grew from a single start-up location into 8 operating bases with over 80 employees. After two years as VP of Global Sales and Marketing at the company headquarters in Denmark, he took the position of Welltec’s VP of Latin America in Rio de Janeiro, followed by Senior VP of Middle East and North Africa and is now semi-retired, as the first Welltec Fellow, where he focuses on technical advising and industry associations.
Brian has 37 continuous years as an SPE member and has 28 published SPE papers and trade journal articles. He spent 13 years on the international board of ICoTA (Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association), serving two years as both chairman and treasurer. He was a SPE Distinguished Lecturer for 2012 – 2013, has presented 3 SPE Short Courses, currently serves on two API committees, and on the SPE Energy Information Committee for public education. In 2016 Brian was awarded the SPE Production Operations Distinguished Service Award at the ATCE in Abu Dhabi.
JAMES GREENLEE, PE
COMMERCIALIZATION PROJECT MANAGER
James Greenlee spent 40 years in
energy and petrochemical industries on four continents starting as a corrosion
engineer for Cities Service planning a CO2 miscible flood of the Hartzog Draw
Field in 1979. His graduate work at Oklahoma University included drilling
fluids rheology and non-Darcy flow. He brings to Petroleum ETC a background in
project management and prototype development based on models observed at
Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and Zeton. His experience includes both
lab-scale and major projects. Before retiring from Marathon Oil, he was a
member of the leadership team assigned to SwRI during an effort to
commercialize a novel catalytic process to convert methane to diesel. At
Marathon, James was a member of the Oasis Libya Re-Entry Team. He was
responsible for permitting of Annapolis G-24, Nova Scotia’s first deep water
gas discovery off Sable Island. Prior to Marathon, he was selected by the World
Bank to contribute to an energy sector analysis of Azerbaijan. He planned,
drilled and completed horizontal wells for Lagoven in Lago Maracaibo. Prior to
joining Petroleum ETC, he was an owner’s consulting project engineer for
INVISTA during FEL on a $1B nylon 6,6 plant planned in Shanghai. James is an
American Sailing Association instructor and circumnavigated his small sailboat
rounding Cape of Good Hope solo.
Charles Zimmermann is an Upstream Oil and Gas operations and projects leader, with 20 years’ experience in expanding project leadership roles with the super major BP, working across five global regions. In his last position, Mr. Zimmermann was Vice President of Projects in Egypt, where he was accountable for the planning and execution of the WND project, one of BP’s largest capital projects in the world. Prior to working in Egypt, Mr Zimmermann successfully delivered deepwater projects in Angola, Trinidad and Tobago, and Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Zimmermann has a proven track record of delivery with a bias to optimize for value and execute with predictability. He has also and has significant experience leading organizations through change and working collaboratively with national governments, contractors and international oil companies.
Cem is currently serving as professor of petroleum engineering and the director of three industry supported consortia: Fluid Flow, Paraffin Deposition, and Horizontal Well Artificial Lift Projects at the University of Tulsa. His research interests are production engineering, multiphase flow in pipes, flow assurance and horizontal wells. He has over 200 publications. He is a well-known expert in the multiphase production and transportation and Flow Assurance subject matters. He independently consults and teaches short courses in these areas through (FFE). F.H. JUNIOR TEAM MEMBER
Kristopher Hildebrand came onboard in May 2018 as an Intern focused on supporting Petroleum ETC's new tech startups, with specific focus on Lift ETC. Kris engages in planning and research for new technologies.
Kris will graduate in 2019 with a Petroleum Engineering degree from The University of Tulsa. Kris is active in a variety of organizations at TU including Kappa Alpha Order and Reformed University Fellowship. He is the Executive Board Secretary for The University of Tulsa SPE Student Chapter and a Justice on the Student Association Judicial Committee. Kris enjoys backpacking, hunting, and fishing in his free time.
